CHAIRMANS CHAT

Its June already and the exceptionally good weather has given our Bee’s a great start to their season. It appears that despite the early April signs of swarming that not many swarms have been reported. The colonies at your training apiary are doing really well and Thursday 28th saw us taking off about 30lbs(15kgs) of honey and what a taste it has. Next year should see more of us at the honey harvest and more meetings and training days when social distancing is no longer on the agenda. We also gave the NHS their final clap on behalf of Worcester Beekeepers. We had a bit of a drama during the super removal when we found the queen from hive 14 on the ground with a cluster of bees. She was marked(red) but not clipped. We are not sure if this was a prequel to swarming or our mistake when removing supers. However she was gathered up, replaced, clipped and calm was restored.
